After the Ashes

Well, and one more cowboy since I definitely needed my fix... Christopher Braddock is bounty hunter and numb for life. At least that's what he thinks before he meets Lorelei O'Sullivan, who fiercely tries to protect her somewhat criminal brother. She knows that he maybe did something wrong, but she never expected to find how much he did her and her mother wrong. Christopher is out to get Corey and Lorelei is out to get Christopher, even if it only is to keep Corey safe.
Life rarely works out the way one plans it and so soon Chris finds himself knee-deep in love with Lorelei, torn about what he's supposed to do and what he wants to do. Through many trials the couple has to go and not a few of them are made my Christopher alone. Ever since the war left him feeling more guilty than alive he swore  that he could never settle. Will Lorelei be the one to change that?

I enjoyed that book from beginning to end. The way Chris struggles with his feelings just is believable and sweet and breath-taking. Not once did this book turn boring and even though it's set not in our century, but after the civil war, it doesn't lack hot scenes (and man, they were darn hot) or sweet scenes without making Lorelei look anything but the lady she is. It was another free book for me and I really love that amazon makes this possible, because sometimes you find a jewel where you never would have expected it.

Your Loverette Julie

  1. hi hi, here i am! hehe. so yes, i definitely want to read this one! i love the cowboys but i admit, i love it even more when they take place in 1800's! just makes everything more real/believable to me i guess. thats not to say there aren't good present day ones too but... yeah!

    1. I totally get what you say, I just have to admit that sometimes these 'old' books don't have much... You know? Hotness in it because, let's face it, it was not proper. And we don't want the prostitutes, we want the ladies that go a little bad with the guys.
I know you read a lot of those books though and I really want to read more... Even if right now I more feel like cowboys than Earls and Dukes! ;-)

  2. yeah i totally get you! you just have to know where to look though! cuz i'm trying to think and i think basically every western i've read from back then has had some sex in it. now, sometimes the author might write them getting married first or something, but i've found that doesn't diminish the story itself in any way when that happens.

one that comes to mind is "lawless" by nora roberts who as you know, can write anything! but that takes place back then and has a steamy factor too (pre-marriage even) and the story was great too!

also if i can just plug one more book here! haha but "taken by the cowboy" was awesome as well! forget the author at the moment but i loved that cuz its a time-travel romance but just done really well. and of course, there's hotness too *shifty*

so yeah, they are out there!

    1. I think I heard about 'Taken by a cowboy' before, but maybe that was just with you. LOL I will definitely check into that! I can't have enough cowboy books for now, to be honest, and I don't care if they are now or 'back then'.

I actually really do like Nora Roberts, so I should check for more of her book. And it's not that I just need the juicy scenes, I just... i don't know, I like when we have a nice balance between, struggle, snuggle and sexy...

and speaking of westerns... i can't wait to read some in arizona next time i'm there because that IS the west ya know? i'd be able to live and breathe the stories out there! the folks just got back from there so i guess thats why it was on my mind! hehe

    1. I am so jealous you'll actually manage to do that! One day I want to be in Texas, too, on a ranch for a few weeks. I really definitely need that experience one day. Maybe we'll manage to do that together! ;-)

I love the stories, too, but I always think it needs a little extra...
