Firsts - C.L. Matthews

Blurb: She’s forbidden. Too young, too pure, and not mine. I’ll break all the rules to be with her.   She belongs to me, even if she doesn't know it yet. He’s taboo. Too old, too experienced, and my stepfather. I’ll cross every line to be with him.   He's not mine, and never will be. It’s not about the danger of what's forbidden,   it’s about the pleasure we get from it. All consequences be damned. My Review: This is my first taboo book. I mean... Yes, it is, no questions, but saying it's taboo makes me feel dirty, so I'm just gonna say it's not your usual romance. C.L. Was so kind to give me a review copy and damn, I'm so glad I tried this book. I'm already panting for book 2, Lasts, although I know my favorite, Brax, doesn't really stand a chance.  This is a triangle (yeah, the fan-fights have been obvious on FB, haven't they?) and I won't lie, it's clear who the author favors. However, I'm still hoping... There...

I was provided a copy by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Blurb: Titus King has always seen his world in black and white. There is a firm right and wrong in his mind, which is why as a teenager he left behind the only family he’d ever known to make a better life for himself. Now a police detective in one of the worst cities in the country, he can’t deny his life has turned into a million different shades of gray. The new criminal element in The Point has brought vengeance and destruction right to Titus’s front door, and walking the straight and narrow seems far less important now. The difference between right and wrong is nothing compared to keeping those he loves alive. To add to his already strained moral compass, the beautiful and mysterious Reeve Black has made her way back to town. This girl might be as dangerous to Titus as the guy trying to destroy the Point but he can’t walk away because he needs her—in more ways than one. Reeve knows all ab...

"Behind Your Back" by Chelsea M. Cameron

Image
I was provided an ARC copy of this book   Blurb: "To get to him, I need to use her. I’ll play her like a violin and have her falling in love with me before she even knows what’s happening. It will be easy. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again. She’s just a girl. A tool to get what I want. When I’m done with her I won’t think twice about walking away. At least, that was what I thought. Until I met her." I was super excited for this book to come out. Romance and suspense, all right up my alley. Plus, I've read some of Chelsea's books and loved them (My Favorite Mistake is still one of my fav books ever). So needless to say I NEEDED to read this book. However, I have to say that the book didn't live up to my expectations. It was a good book, but it was just that. Good. I had a hard time getting into the story overall and connecting to the characters. I still didn't completely at the end of the book, so that was one of the...
