How to be a perfect "Goddess"

Image
Josephine Angelini's series of the starcrossed lovers has been one of my favorites every since the first book came out. Needless to say that I was dying to get to the last book in the trilogy.  The story of the series so far: If you guys remember, this book is about Helen, a semigod (yes, you read that correctly) that just finds out about her true self when the Delos family (and there are a lot of them) moves to the small island of Nantucket where Helen lives. After first wanting to kill Lucas, a son of the Delos family, then falling in love with him, only to realize that he's her cousin, it becomes quite clear that Helen's life will never be the same. When in book two she has to travel to the Underworld to rid the four houses of semigods of the Furies, who make them want to kill each other all the time to pay for a blood debt that goes all the way back to the Trojan War, Helen almost dies in the process. Only Orion, someone she meets in the underworld and another

Play with me, Ryan Hunter!

I have to say that just with the two titles of the books from the Grover Beach series you actually can express it all. "The guy sure felt a little possessive there, and he made no effort to hide that from me or anyone else. I couldn't stop myself from smiling." - Play with me by Piper Shelly Ryan Hunter's parties are legend. And tonight she's going to be there. Liza Matthews anticipates the return of her best friend and only love since kindergarten from soccer camp. But when Tony finally shows up, his mind is more focused on another girl. And worse, she's a soccer player. Fighting for the attention Liza craves, she's just a hairbreadth away from making a very stupid decision. But when extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures, she's prepared to play ball to get her man. The tryouts are hell, the first match ends bloody, and the morning after the selection party she wakes up in the worst place possible—in the arms of the captain

Morganville - you cannot leave, no matter how hard you try

Image
So in case they are people out there that haven't heard of this series, here's a short break down: Morganville is a city that is run by vampires. Evil, cruel and blood thirsty vampires. Yes, there is your occasional rational vampires, but let's face it, if they are hungry, they are all the same. However, there are also humans living among the vampires. So meet Claire Danvers, heroine of ours books and a total nerd. But she's also feisty and has come a long way in all those books already. Together with her friends Michael and Eve and her boyfriend Shane, they are the group that is just calling for trouble. For different reasons. I won't go into the first 13 books, because there would be too much to vocer, but let's just say that ever 13 books in, this story never gets old. Sure, we had a few slow paces, but now, with this current one, we're just picking up the pace again. And don't remind me of the fact that there is only one more left....and it's al

Rush Crush?!

The Too Far series by Abbi Glines was amazing so far: I loved Rush and Blaire together so I was really looking forward to the last installment of this series. Let me introduce you to  "Forever Too Far" by Abbi Glines I'm still so weirded out by this book and my reaction to it. Like I said, I LOVED the series so far so I was really looking forward to that last book, but somehow it was totally not what I wanted it to be. I can't even really say anything, since I'm still reeling from it. Not necessarily in a good way. First of all the story: While Blaire is still pregnant, Rush's sister Nan is still causing problems. Even more so after realizing who her real father is. To ease the trouble that Nan is causing, Blaire and Rush fly out to LA to help Rush's father and Nan's father with his troublesome sister. Everyone who has read the series knows Nan and can imagine how that works out. Not at all. Nan still hates Blaire and that is causing u

Alien invasion - the hot kind!!!

Oh my, so I'm still fanning myself over the hotness that is Daemon Black. And believe me when I say, I'm pretty sure you will all feel the same way after you're through with those books! By Jennifer L. Armentrout: When Katy moves to West Virginia with her mom after her dad died, things couldn't look more bleak. Leaving the sunny beaches of Florida behind, she needs to spend her senior year in no-mans-land. That wasn't the worst of all though. Meet Daemon Black, new next-door-neighbor and a guy that simply by opening his mouth, brings out the very worst in Katy. "I'd always avoided confrontation in the past, but this guy was flipping my bitch switch like nothing else." Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout Katy quickly befriends Daemon's twin sister Dee, but her brother is a completely different story. They hate each other, and yet again, they don't. More than once Katy has to admit just how awesomely good-looking he is and her

"Warning! Do not look, smell, or touch. Hazardous for your libido." The Vampire Affair Part I by Vivi Anna "This man smelled so good, I wanted to lick him all over his neck and face like an ice-cream cone." - The Vampire Affair Part I by Vivi Anna Makayla Bradley, a small-time journalist, risks everything including her job to get the goods on billionaire playboy Jonathan Devane. A man who enthralled her from a single passionate kiss months prior. A man who makes her blood race and her thighs tingle. A man with dark secrets… Well, well, well, we all can guess what the dark secret is, but as of the book, you won't find out yet, I have to admit that this book is a tease, because every page you turn and want to find out everything about Jonathan. And, boy, what a man! I really enjoyed the first part of the series and I will get on to part II soon, I hope. It's fast reading and, like all good quickies, quite satisfying! *wink* And th

After the Ashes

Well, and one more cowboy since I definitely needed my fix... Christopher Braddock is bounty hunter and numb for life. At least that's what he thinks before he meets Lorelei O'Sullivan, who fiercely tries to protect her somewhat criminal brother. She knows that he maybe did something wrong, but she never expected to find how much he did her and her mother wrong. Christopher is out to get Corey and Lorelei is out to get Christopher, even if it only is to keep Corey safe. Life rarely works out the way one plans it and so soon Chris finds himself knee-deep in love with Lorelei, torn about what he's supposed to do and what he wants to do. Through many trials the couple has to go and not a few of them are made my Christopher alone. Ever since the war left him feeling more guilty than alive he swore  that he could never settle. Will Lorelei be the one to change that? I enjoyed that book from beginning to end. The way Chris struggles with his feelings just is believ

Cowboys... Man, I love them!

Image
Well, what can I say about cowboys except... Man, I want my own cowboy! "Tall, broad shoulders and chest, muscles bulging out from under his red, rolled up sleeves, brown hair, dancing brown eyes and those darn dimples... six-foot-four-inches of Texas testosterone. The equivalent of saturated fat. Tasted good but wasn't good for you." - Her Unbridled Cowboy - Donna Michaels Kerri Masters is totally right with her thoughts about that wild cowboy she had known all her life. And when it comes to her life there is nothing much left: her restaurant was destroyed, her marriage more lie than truth and her hopes all down. Only her parents are ready to catch her, leading her to leave her California big city life and enjoy a few days away... Weeks at max. Only her family thinks a little different, wanting to keep her around even longer, because they think they know what Kerri needs: a true, stubborn cowboy.   "And, as it happened every time he was near,

What a blow...

Hi book lovers, it's me, Yvi again! Another day, another review, and I don't want to let you wait any longer!! review book: Nhys Glover's "Guardian of Werewolf Keep" So when I started reading this book, the title already kind of gave you an idea of what it would be about. Meet  Philomena Davenport, who just learnt that her father, who was presumably dead already for years, had actually only recently died and left her a good heritage. In order for her to get rich though, she is forced to spend three months in an old Keep her father apparently inhabited. When arriving there, Phil meets brooding Byron, who evokes feelings in her that she has never felt before. But the Keep houses secrets that Phil would have never believed possible.  So much for the story. It all sounds kind of interesting in the beginning, but the story is really badly played out. It could've been such a great book, but it just didn't work. The characters fell flat, meanin

Day Trip to bookland - a summary

Image
Hello everyone, this officially states my first ever blog now. Julie already introduced us both, so I'm not gonna say much more to that and dive right into my book paradise! I got to go on a little trip to Ireland the last two days and that gave me the opportunity to really get into reading. Here's what came out of it: 1. book: C.K. Bryant's "Bound" Bound came up in my book roulette, as so many books you'll read about here, and I had no idea what it was about anymore. This is what happens with most of the books I read during book roulette. We meet Kira, who grew up in a house where love wasn't really an issue ever. When her best friend all of the sudden turns into something you never thought possible and her mom and the annoying boyfriend just leave her alone, moving to another state, Kira's life seems to take a turn that she has never imagined. Throw in a guy that looks more like an egyptian prince than anything Kira has ever

New Hottie in Town...

"Not damaged. Beautifully damaged"  - Beautifully Damaged by L.A. Fiore Well, well, well, what can I possibly say about Trace Montgomery and Ember Walsh? Let's face it, the first reason for me to buy it was the cover... And who wouldn't want that cover?? Then it was free for me and came up in my book roulette. Boy, am I ever glad I read this books. As it is, Ember is a not-quite-wallflower, aspiring writer and sweetest soul on earth, being all but attacked in a club and to her rescue comes "an inked angel". That already got me weak on my knees.  Trace has huge anger-management-problems, huge ghosts from the past and a huge list of women he had left heartbroken. His interest in Ember though grows just as much as her interest in him and i have to say that by about forty percent I thought we were through with the story. I mean, don't we all know it? They find each other, they hesitate, they love and then they split only so that one can

I introduce you to...

I have to say that I got the first book for free and when I started reading it I wasn't sure what to expect, but then I was pretty quickly drawn in and read it in a day, bought the second one and read that in a day, too. What can I say?  Unexpected turns, beautifully written, always make my heart drop and it's been a long while since a book turn truly surprised me. I loved the book from the very beginning to the very end and I wanted the paperback version of ' Saving Wishes ' the moment I was done. Having written my review on Goodreads I got super-lucky and G.J. Walker-Smith sent me a personally signed copy. I LOVED IT and still do. So, what's the book about? Book one starts with us in Australia, introducing a rather wild Charli Blake, who is being raised by her (absolutely amazing and adorable) brother Alex. It's her last year of High-School and Charli and her best friend plan for a trip around the world after they are finally done. What Charli d
