Fallen Crest High - not what I wanted it to be

Synopsis: "Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend her school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn't care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent's divorce. But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing."

This book really makes it hard for me to write a review. It was okay. But it also wasn't.

The story was good enough and had potential, but it was sadly a little poorly written out. My main problem with this book was the inability to connect with the characters. I could not, for the love of me, get a hand on those characters. It felt like they were out there and acted, but you had no real idea why they were doing this and that. They lacked depth, but they also lacked likability to me. While I really WANTED to think those brothers are amazingly hot, I just didn't feel it. In the story there are like gods, untouchable and unreachable, and in the end that's what I felt like as well. They didn't reach me and I couldn't get in touch with them. And that actually made me kinda sad, because I wanted to like it! I really did!

The story itself was weird as well somehow. Despite the fact that you didn't really feel anything with the characters, the story itself felt a little too much. Especially the drama in school. I mean, seriously, at times I didn't even know who was playing who, who's mad at who and WHY they were even doing all of that. Things simply didn't make sense. And sadly, that didn't only happen once, but I sat there a few times, not knowing what was really going on. I would read back and try to figure out if I missed something, simply to see that I didn't miss anything, that whatever was happening simply didn't make sense.

So while I wanted to like the book, I just couldn't quite get into it. I will give it another chance though and read the second part as well. Let's hope that will be better than the first!

Love,
Yvi
