Pride to Pack (Mount Roxby #1) by Aimie Jennison
I'm bringing to you tonight a debut novel by a chic I actually was lucky enough to get to know before she ever kicked something out on the market. I am charming (*wink*) which is why I was ready to tackle her book no matter what. Let's see what it is about *coughhotwerescough* :
Rosabel McGuiness, orphaned Werewolf, has finally decided to leave the Werelion Pride she’s been living with for the last 18 years. She’s been challenged to one duel too many. It’s time to find a pack to call home.
Theodore Wilson, Alpha of the Mount Roxby Pack, has never cared about finding his Mate. He swore off women when his Wife, a human who knew nothing about what he was, cheated on him. But now a new wolf has walked into town, and stirred up feelings he never imagined he would feel.
Mount Roxby has a plethora of supernatural beings, unbeknownst to the humans that live there. After a series of mysterious disappearances, and fatal attacks on both Werewolves and Vampires alike, Rosabel decides something needs to be done. But can she persuade the Pack Alpha and Vampire King, to put old prejudices behind them long enough to work together, and solve these attacks?
Or will one bite too many cause a war?
So... What can I say?
After getting over the initial misunderstanding due to an Aussie accent I have to say I came to love the first real good guy we met: Jared. No matter what his role was/is in all of this, he sure is someone I like to become happy one day... Hell, he totally deserves that!
Next I totally went to Bel's side. If I could pick any female character to be my kick-ass-best friend I swear it would be her. She's compassionate, sweet and one of the greatest females ever written. She's NOT whining all the time and she always stays true to what she believes. She is one hell of a girl!
And now... The part I probably loved most: Theo. I love the way he is described, the way he acts, the way he loves and sure as hell the way he is an alpha. GOD, he's adorable!
All in all I can say that I can imagine how hard it can be to put your heart out there, needing to have faith that people won't tear you apart. Among millions of shifter books it's hard to take a stand, too. Yet I can say I hope that Aimie Jennison soon will be a recognized author because I LOVED her debut. I love the pack dynamics, I love the "King" of the vampires, I love the witchy best friend... I love, love, love it all. I sure hope we soon find the next installment in our hands because this book surely leaves you hungry for more. Very great NA read, but might as well be read by a younger audience since this book is sweet and amazing without needing steam to make it anything remarkable. The book manages VERY well without that.
Thank you, Aimie Jennison, for being damn brave and putting your amazing book boyfriends out there for me to drool over.
Yours truly,
Julie
