"Verum" by Courtney Cole - Excuse me while I go look for my sanity

ARC provided in exchange for an honest (and sane hahahahaha) review)

Synopsis:

"The truth shall set you free.

My name is Calla Price and I’m drowning.

My new world is a dark, dark ocean and I’m being pulled under by secrets.

Can I trust anyone? I don’t know anymore.
The lies are spirals. They twist and turn, binding me with their thorns and serpentine tongues. And just when I think I have it figured out, everything is pulled out from under me.
I’m entangled in the darkness.
But the truth will set me free.
It’s just ahead of me, so close I can touch it. But even though it shines and glimmers, it has glistening fangs and I know it will shred me.
Are you scared?
I am."

So, I've had a few days to get over this book. To try to figure out what I'm gonna write in this review. But to be honest, I still have no freaking idea what to write. Why? Because this book, this whole series so far, is messing with your sanity.

Simple as that.

But okay, let's try to get some kind of review of this book together.

I read both books (Nocte and Verum) within 24 days. You finish Nocte and you're like: What??? Are you freaking kidding me? So believe me when I say I was BEYOND excited to be given an ARC copy of this book. Quite frankly, waiting for the next book is like dying with this series. You're hanging by such a thin threat when you close the book that you're wondering if you can make it until the next one releases. I was lucky enough to be able to wait until book two came out, but after that ending, I just....

The characters, the storyline - simply mind-blowing. That's all I'm saying to that. And I know that a review should include all aspects of the writing, but I know me. If i start describing characters or the storyline, I will be spoilerish, and I don't want that. Let's just say, everything is epic.

Courtney Cole created a masterpiece. She manages to have you hang on every word of her book, read every page with such a fever that you should be able to feel the pages burn. Her story-telling is blissfully alluring, making you feel as if you've entered a universe where you don't know what is the reality and what is something your mind conjures up. And that feeling is just....awfully amazing.

Don't get me wrong, I loved everything about this book. From the way Courtney's story draws you right into the story, to the way the characters are displayed up to the magic she possesses in making you want to jump right to the end while savoring the journey, too.

This book though was also a challenge for me. For my mind. Because what made me need to take a few days until writing this review is the simply fact that the book messes with your mind. BIG TIME.

One minute you finally figured out everything, or maybe you are at least getting there, and then everything around you just comes tumbling down. And you have no freaking idea where you stopped paying attention. Should you have seen it coming? Should you have known that things would be turned upside down again when you finally thought things would be okay? Sure you should have, because that's just the way this story works.

And yet, when the end of this book comes around, all I could think of was: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO (ask Anne, she had to listen to it).

So, this review probably made no sense at all to all of you, and has only confused you more. But maybe, and that's my small hope, it at least made you curious as to WHY my review was such a mess. Believe me, if anything, this series is definitely worth the ride.

I'm giving this book 5-book-boyfriends! And more!
