Capture by Rachel Van Dyken

Blurb:

Losing your ability to speak at the age of seventeen; it’s not normal or fair.

But trauma, has a way of throwing normality out the window.

Dani lives anything but a normal life.
Her sister is married to one of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Her best friends are rockstar duo AD2.
And she has more love around her than most people experience in a lifetime.
But that doesn't change the fact their parents are dead.
Or that it's her fault.

It seems her new normal is being a mute, living on the inside, unable to actually communicate on the outside.
That is until Hollywood’s newest heartthrob Lincoln Greene hires her as his assistant for the summer.
He's gorgeous, completely unavailable, and unobtainable.
But that doesn't stop her from wondering...if things were different...would he want her?
If she was whole, would he be the other half?

I was super excited that I got a chance to read an early copy of this book. Rachel Van Dyken is definitely one of my favourite authors, and yet I still didn't get around to reading her Seaside novels. Now I've devoured all of the Elite books, so maybe I was a little worried they wouldn't live up to it. When I got this baby though, I knew I needed to give it a try. And I haven't regretted it for one moment.

This book had me hooked from the beginning. Since I haven't read the  Seaside novels, the characters weren't familiar to me, but that actually didn't matter at all. You still saw them for who they were and had no trouble catching up. Nice job Ms. Van Dyken, because sometimes it can feel like you're lost when you haven't read anything else. But not here.

When it comes to the story, I can only say that I sucked it up like nothing else. Whenever I wasn't reading I wished I was, simply because I wanted to see what happened. Dani and Linc had such a chemistry that you couldn't help but fall in love with them. Both are such strong personalities, that each had to overcome their own obstacles to get to where they are now. While Dani is mute, Linc never lets that get to him. Quite the opposite, he does everything in his power to make Dani talk. And it's a beautiful thing to read about.

But not only Dani and Linc are amazing, but also the other characters (from the Seaside novels). Like I said, I didn't know them before, but I instantly fell in love with them during this book. It made me fall so hard that I've started reading the first Seaside book right away. I just needed to learn more about those characters.

Rachel van Dyken's way of writing is just so amazing that you never stop to wonder if this or that is correct, you just get so attached to the story that you devour the book like nothing else. She easily makes you get lost in this story and quite honestly, I didn't even mind the slightest.

I will definitely make sure to get through all the Seaside books but also definitely wanna read more of Rachel!!

Thank you to Rachel and Inkslinger for providing me with a copy of this book. I absolutely was ecstatic about it <3

Definitely 5 book boyfriends from me. And now I'll go and swoon over one Lincoln Greene some more!!

Always yours,
Yvi
