Breaking Nova - you know I love me some Jessica Sorensen
Synopsis: "Nova
Reed used to have dreams-of becoming a famous drummer, of marrying
her true love. But all of that was taken away in an instant. Now
she's getting by as best she can, though sometimes that means doing
things the old Nova would never do. Things that are slowly eating
away at her spirit. Every day blends into the next . . . until she
meets Quinton Carter. His intense, honey brown eyes instantly draw
her in, and he looks just about as broken as she feels inside.
Quinton
once got a second chance at life-but he doesn't want it. The tattoos
on his chest are a constant reminder of what he's done, what he's
lost. He's sworn to never allow happiness into his life . . . but
then beautiful, sweet Nova makes him smile. He knows he's too damaged
to get close to her, yet she's the only one who can make him feel
alive again. Quinton will have to decide: does he deserve to start
over? Or should he pay for his past forever?"
Breaking
Nova is a new novel and series by Jessica Sorensen and to be honest,
I hadn't read all that much about it before except the synopsis, so I
wasn't really sure what to expect of this book. It was definitely
much darker than Jessica's usual novels, but that didn't take the
wonderful experience away. Maybe it was the way she was describing
everything in detail, without making it pretty, that makes this novel
something that completely stands out from her other novels.
The
story about two people that have lost things in life, that try to
deal with it in their own way, is simply tragic. There's nothing
pretty about it, nothing fancy, it's just raw pain, hurt and bad
decisions. All combined in one. If you're looking for a pretty and
fancy and dandy story, you won't be finding it here.
The two main characters aren't your usual happy go lucky people. Both have gone through traumatic experience that I never want to go through personally. And therefore, of course they aren't easy to watch in their lives, because they do make wrong choices, they do seem as if they don't care about anything anymore in life. But ultimately, this is what drives them together. Their own need to find someone that understands what they are going through, what drove them to this point in their life. And to watch that process is what makes this books as amazing as it is. Yes, it's different from everything else Jessica Sorensen wrote so far, it's way more dark and ugly, but it's still an amazing work of art if you ask me. To watch Nova and Quinton on their quest to forgiveness and love is just beautiful.
In the end I was surprised when the end was there and it didn't end the way I
thought it would....thankfully, it was just because I was too stupid
to see that there is a second book coming out^^ And boy am I looking
forward to that, because the ending here was nothing I was happy
with! So next one please??? Now???
Always and forever,
Yvi
