Courting Darkness - ARC Review

*Spoiler Alert*

So... I received Courting Darkness by Melynda Price as an ARC, and I have to say that I was terribly excited to get the chance to read the book...

Synopsis:
Betrayed by her true love, Olivia cannot let go of the angel her mind doesn’t remember, and her heart refuses to forget. In an attempt to reclaim her broken life, she is determined to unearth her past, but some secrets are better left buried.

To save her life, he sacrificed everything. Universal Law was broken when Liam violated Olivia’s free will. His guardianship has been revoked, and the pain of letting her go is nothing compared to the torture of enduring their shattered bond. He can no longer sense her, no longer feel her, and the enemy he risked it all to save her from, now has free reign to claim her for his own. To get her back, Liam must turn away from all he is, all he was, for the one thing he may have already lost forever—Olivia’s love.

Haden will stop at nothing to possess Immanuel’s Stone, and locked away in Olivia’s memories is the key he needs to find it. But in his quest for vengeance, he never expected to lose his heart to the enchanting green-eyed beauty. Forced to choose between love and revenge, Haden becomes captivated by a woman who will never be his…or will she?

This is book three in the Redemption-Series and I remember very well how much I felt for Haden at the end of the book. As it is, for a sucker like me the book started out amazing since we had soooo much Olivia and Haden together. I get that some people might have a problem with Haden, or don't get the way he develops feelings for him, but seriously, he's the (hot) bad guy and it would be fully unbelievable if he now would turn a hundred and eighty degrees. I love the way Melynda Price makes him sweeter step by step. I am well aware that sometimes it's the one stop forward two steps back - kind of thing, but I love every bit of it nonetheless. At some point I was as far as thinking that maybe Haden and her would be just the right couple after all, but of course, Liam returns and I'm like: "Fine, Liv, you get Liam and I take Haden..." Yeah, I want those two together, and I have wanted it right from the beginning.

I am kinda glad that Ash is not so much part of this book, but I am happy we got to meet Tate (is there any chance we can have him in a book, too? *sigh* I totally fell for him and all he tried to get Olivia to trust him) and a few other angels, like Niall, too.

Sometimes you read a series and you think: Well, that's the same it was in book one... That might still work in book two, but then it gets boring. Melynda Price does NOT have to worry about that. The story is NOT repetitive at all and I loved all pages from this book, loved the fast pace and I especially loved the Time-Out Liam and Olivia got at Rebecca's home. Those scenes are sweet and just proving how right those two are for each other. Still, I kinda wondered if there ever would be a point where Olivia realized what she truly was feeling for Haden...

And we come to the last part of the book. Liam and Haden working together was amazing in my mind. And the scene after the hut burns down... WOW, just seriously... WOW!

So, my conclusion is that this book has everything you need: an amazing bad boy, a super hot and not so good angel, the perfect triangle and just the right amount of sacrifices for the perfect love. Melynda Price, all I can say is: Thank you for that book and for not making me wait longer for it. And, thank you for bringing out another book in that series. Thank you. Really.

Yours truly,
Julie
