Kissing Trouble (In The Dark #2) by Morgana Phoenix

Synopsis:

Their screams will be his lullaby.

Escaping into the wilderness should have been a piece of cake for a super-babysitter like Julie Brewer. But even she isn’t prepared for the horror awaiting their arrival, or the man who had broken her heart all those years ago to suddenly show up on the doorstep.

Mason Brody has a plan and it is simple: wait for Julie to grow up. Yet in no way is he prepared for the fierce amazon who ambushes him with a baseball bat, or the way the shy fifteen year old has blossomed into a beautiful, passionate woman he can't get enough of.

But there is so much more than just their past between them. There is a dark force lurking in the shadows, waiting for the chance to appease its hunger for death and it will stop at nothing until it is fed.

Can Mason and Julie keep the evil at bay long enough to escape? Or will the monster add their lives to its list?

Okay, truth first: I struggled with this review ever since I finished that book three days ago. Trust me, it wasn't because the book was bad, but because I simply didn't know what to say except "Whoa!!!!" For people who read this blog regularly, you probably totally get why THIS girl here gets excited with JULIE being the main... Yeah, I totally felt as if I was the cool, kick-ass heroine in that book simply because my nick on the internet has been Julie since 2004. It feels like part of me and... Ah, I'm drifiting off. Okay, so let me post a GIF to show my initital reaction to that book.

Yeah, those were two and yes, I can count... So, first things first. I am not a girl who reads thrillers because my heart can't take it. I do make an exception of Mrs. Phoenix is calling my name, asking me as her Dark-Court-Slave to pretty please read her book. (Between us, she most likely will never ask me again as I started to threat her while reading! *winks*) I am glad I read this book even though I was scared of falling asleep. And opening a window. Or the front door. You know, nothing major that could influence my life...

Anyways, Julie is one hell of a female main. She is strong and her bat-wielding powers are the best one yet. Tension between Mason and her is... WOW, I swear, I felt on fire with them, Those two seriously made me breathe hard in certain scenes...
And Mason... Oh, Mason...

I take me a Mason any day of the week... Or any night... Or any week of the month... Or any month of the... Yeah, you get the drift. His protective side, not only around Julie, but the kids as well had me a puddle on the floor before the story really started. The way he treated them all, careful and with respect, oh, and love of course, is just the best thing ever.

For someone who is actually a little clueless about what to write in this review, I sure have written some words, but nothing really convincing yet, so here comes the part WHY you should read this book:
THIS IS AWESOME! It's breath-taking and exciting. It makes your heart jump and ready to run away without you because you can't keep up. This book keeps you at the edge of the seat and even though I seriously am scared easily, I loved every bit of it. I had my suspicions about who'd be the bed guys and I seriously worried that Morgana (a.k.a. Airicka) would totally crush me. I was ready to never speak to her again if, and that is a big if, she'd have ended the book the way I worried. Luckily she didn't. And, since I'm absolutely not clever when it comes to hints as to whom could be the bad guy, I was a lot surprised at the end. This is a Halloween-read you sure can enjoy every day of this year. I am so gonna re-read this book once. Or twice... Or three times.

And just so you know... The book was so awesome I bought it even after getting an ARC-Copy because I find that this book and this author deserve all the support they can get... Airicka Phoenix NEVR EVER disappoints.

Damn, I love that woman (sorry for embarrassing you now with my absolutely public love-declaration... :-P )

GET IT, people! NOW!

Yours truly,

Julie
